Version 1.2.0 "The Glory of Scherzo"

Changelog for version 1.2.0:

  • Fixed a critical error that caused a softlock in the game during the introduction of the party members.  (If you're curious, it was caused by Sekhmet trying to walk into a space Hikaru was occupying and the event hanging because it couldn't resolve).  Because the last thing that the code could do before the softlock was a particularly soothing and melodic piece of public domain music by Kevin MacLeod at Incompetech, I called this bug the "Endless Meatball Parade." If you're wondering why the game ended not in fire or in ice but in the dankest of Drakanous memes, you were a victim of the Endless Meatball Parade - play the game again to get the real endings!
  • Credited Melon Pope as the world first player to defeat a Hell Bug instance,  nice work, great raid!  Check out their Game Jam card game, Dragonsnap! We also got to talking, so look for future updates with their name on it...
  • Added a much requested tutorial going over the basics of how this game is unlike other RPGmaker games.  Yes, you are supposed to have two actions a turn, in fact.  This tutorial is a Common Event, so I can also put it earlier in the game, once there is an "earlier."
  • On the advice of veteran Valor players (and why haven't you checked out Valor yet if you liked this game?), removed Ace's "Adjust Helmet" compulsion - and when I expand the demo backwards towards the actual beginning of the game, my explanation will be that Deedee bought Ace a new helmet in town that's a tighter fit, so it doesn't fall down in her eyes any more. (Do note that Hikaru still needs to Check Notes every other turn, or he'll lose meter, as the Tutorial explains.)
  • Somehow, getting Ace a new helmet fixed the Infinite Support bug affecting her, so... that works, I guess?  Now she has one Support Action a turn, just like the pros.  You're doing great, Ace!

Known Issues:

  • The placement of system messages/messages from the Gods is inconsistent.  It should always be on the top of the screen with a transparent background.  It doesn't break the flow of the game much, but this will be fixed in the next patch.
  • Going into the option menu on the Mac tries to call a Windows' system file that doesn't exist, locking up the game.  Unfortunately there is no easy fix for this on a Windows computer; we would appreciate help getting a Mac build that fixes this problem.  Workaround: Don't enter the options screen, just go straight into playing the game.
